Resettlement service providers may encounter clients who exhibit suicidal ideation and/or have attempted suicide. This webinar is designed to equip service providers with essential knowledge and skills to aid in screening and preventing suicide amongst newcomers. The training provides an overview of common myths, risks, warning signs, and protective factors associated with suicide. Participants will learn how to approach the topic with empathy and directness, engage in compassionate conversations, and use screening tools. The webinar also delves into comprehensive suicide assessments, cultural considerations, and the creation of personalized safety plans. Practical case studies are included to illustrate the training’s real-life applications.
