Hosted on September 16, 2026, the training was delivered by Kristen Allen, Training Officer, Switchboard; and Ana Maria Teixeira, Director of Initial Resettlement, International Rescue Committee.
At the beginning of 2026, resettlement for newly arriving refugees and other eligible populations underwent a significant change with the launch of the Program of Initial Resettlement (PIR). Resettlement providers must implement activities that meet newcomers’ needs and align with program requirements. This webinar recording will provide an overview of best practices that support client engagement and a smooth resettlement process. Participants learned how to develop client–caseworker relationships that support resettlement goals and utilize existing client-facing resources to deliver cultural orientation at meaningful points throughout the resettlement period.
