Remote Case Management with Newcomers: Strategies for Effective Virtual and Hybrid Service Delivery

Hosted on September 9th, 2026, the training was delivered by Maya Wahrman, Training Officer, Switchboard; and Kristen Allen, Training Officer, Switchboard.

Refugee service providers nationwide are engaging with clients remotely through fully virtual or hybrid services, reaching people who might otherwise go unserved. This webinar explored the difference between fully virtual services and hybrid services and explained how clients’ digital access is an important component of remote case management. Participants learned how to build trusting relationships with newcomer clients in remote interactions, create safety by protecting clients’ personal information, and support clients’ well-being. The session also covered key considerations for selecting virtual platforms that align with clients’ communication and accessibility needs, organizational resources, and program budgets. Through case scenarios and a live Q&A, participants gained practical tools and strategies to strengthen their remote case management practice.
