Stories of Hope from Bhutanese Refugees: Moving from Distress to Wellness

This eight part video series from the Office of Refugee Resettlement provides Nepali-speaking Bhutanese refugees living in the United States, those who are about to be resettled, new arrivals, and former refugees with testimonials about the resettlement experience, emotional wellness, and suicide prevention. The main video includes a general message of hope and encouragement for Bhutanese refugees who may be experiencing emotional distress. Accompanying the main video are profiles of eight Bhutanese refugees who briefly share ways that they were able to overcome emotional distress and find a new sense of hope and meaning in life. The accompanying video user’s guide gives refugee service providers, health and behavioral health educators, community-based organizations, and other professionals guidance for how to use the videos to promote emotional wellness and suicide prevention among Bhutanese refugees.
