Introducing a New Tool to Support Refugee and Newcomer Housing: Understanding IRC’s Rent Pre-Payment Loan Program

As all refugee resettlement practitioners know, a combination of factors, including high rents and low rental property vacancy rates, have made rental housing searches across the U.S. complex and challenging. Among other ways to help refugees and newcomers secure housing, the IRC has designed and piloted a revolving fund for rent pre-payment loans to help more families access permanent housing by increasing the number of landlords willing to rent to people with a lack of traditional verification documents to verify rental eligibility. The webinar will explain the International Rescue Committee’s Rent Pre-Payment Loan program, which is now fully utilized to support refugees/newcomers securing permanent housing by the IRC and its Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO).
