Join the Society of Refugee Healthcare Providers and Dr. Omar Reda for a Q&A session about supporting the mental health of refugee and newcomer men.
This session will be an informal, discussion format. It will be an opportunity for participants to ask Dr. Reda any questions they have around mental health services for newcomers, with a focus on supporting men.

About the Expert
Dr. Omar Reda, a Libyan-born psychiatrist, is a global trauma expert specializing in refugee mental health, intergenerational trauma, and healing within displaced communities. As an asylum seeker himself, he brings firsthand experience to his work in humanitarian psychiatry, supporting trauma survivors through clinical care, advocacy, and community-based healing initiatives.
Dr. Reda is the author of Untangled: Go From Surviving to Thriving, The Wounded Healer, and several academic publications on trauma-informed care and combating hate, including contributions to Islamophobia and Psychiatry and Antisemitism and Psychiatry. His Untangled model is used internationally to support caregivers working with traumatized communities.
His commitment to breaking cycles of trauma extends to innovative projects such as The Wounded Healer retreats, Camp Silah, and his Daughter-Father Bonding Project YouTube channel, fostering emotional resilience in families. He has consulted on trauma-informed systems for organizations, governments, and projects like the animated film Lamya’s Poem, which explores the impact of war on refugee children.
Dr. Reda’s work blends psychotherapy, storytelling, and cultural competency to create healing spaces for refugees and vulnerable populations.
